Wishes for Wildlife
The 14th annual Wishes for Wildlife, Saturday, April 21, 2007, is going to be a special, new event. Nestled in the beauty of the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, the Hilton Point Tapatio Cliffs will host our guests under the stars. Before stepping into the ambiance of the resort, you will be greeted by our educational ambassadors. Guests will be able to talk to our trained educators to learn more about the wildlife they are presenting. Once inside, you will have an opportunity to choose the “vignettes” of your choice to “vie” for in our new and exciting raffle offerings. Whether your interests are fine outdoor living, adrenaline jolts, jazzy trips, or pampering yourself—to mention a few options—your raffle ticket is as lucky as the next one, and it only takes one for you to carry it all home! Other activities will include fine and select silent auction and live auction items –not to be missed. There will be more trips, dining out entertainment packages, sports, jewelry, and other temptations. An entertaining flighted bird of prey show and the release of a rehabilitated raptor will top the evening with this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Join in on all of the fun; put together a table of your friends, host a table on your own, ask the boss to support our efforts with a corporate table, or come on your own and meet people with like interests while supporting our efforts to “nurture the nature of Arizona.”
Liberty Wildlife Hope Tours
Liberty Wildlife’s Volunteers and Wildlife Ambassadors cordially invite you to tour their “home away from home.”
Because Liberty’s facilities are not normally open to the public, we have introduced Hope Tours to give a few lucky people the opportunity to see how we fulfill our mission to “nurture the nature of Arizona.”
During the tour, you will experience firsthand what most people might only watch on the Discovery Channel. You will observe our staff and volunteers provide care for the current patients and inhabitants at our facility.
Hope Tours are conducted several times a month. The number of participants in each tour is limited to ensure a personal and meaningful experience. Therefore, we ask that you make an advanced reservation.
To reserve your space or obtain additional information about the tours, please call our Liberty Wildlife Hotline at 480-998-5550.
Releases
One of the most special events that occur at Liberty Wildlife is the release of a rehabilitated animal. For those of us who are directly involved, it is particularly special to be a part of the process from beginning to end. It is our protocol to release the animal in the area that it came from if that information is available and if it is appropriate. That is often not the case, and suitable release sites are found that will support the animal as it re-enters the wild. As a result, some of these releases may take place in urban areas and some are destined for more rural areas. On occasion the public is able to take part in one of these uplifting success stories. Watch this page for information on upcoming releases.
Roots and Shoots
In 2007 Liberty Wildlife will introduce a multi-level Roots and Shoots program. The teen group will undertake service learning projects that promote care and concern for animals, the environment and the human community. These efforts will be in conjunction with the national Roots and Shoots program, part of the Jane Goodall Institute. This is a powerful, youth-driven global network of more than 8,000 programs in almost 100 countries. A younger group of children 9-12 years of age will also participate and be mentored by the older group. Regular presentations by the Liberty Wildlife Education group and their animal ambassadors will strengthen this dynamic youth conservation club. For more information on the Liberty Wildlife Roots and Shoots program or to sign up, please contact Barbie Baugh at 602-997-2750.
Orientations and Trainings
New Volunteer Orientations for people wanting to learn more about volunteering are held the second Saturday of every month. Contact our hotline for more information 480-998-5550.
