A Young Bird Lover

I have liked birds all of my life! When I was 5 I told my mom that I wanted to be an Ornithologist (my mom didn’t know what that was, so I told her it was a scientist who studies birds!). I love when all birds are in flight. They are so graceful and powerful. I think that they’re so magical. It all started when I was 5. I had gotten a Yellow Canary for my 5th birthday and I was so excited!!! I have loved birds ever since. Now I bring my binoculars everywhere I go. One day I wish that I could be a part of a group like Liberty Wildlife. Two years ago, I stopped eating birds. Now, I’m a total vegetarian.

It is so amazing that some birds, like the Hyacinth Macaw, are so colorful and how nature brings all of those amazing colors together and it turns out so beautifully! It is so cool that big raptors and owls, hawks and falcons are so graceful and they soar above the clouds and small little Quails are so cute and funny with their little head bobbing everywhere they go. I love how their call sounds like “where are you” and that the little feather on their head is really made up of 13 smaller feathers!

I have collected at least 200 different bird themed things. I have a whole shelf full of bird books. My two real birds are a Yellow Canary named Buttercup and a Yellow-sided-green-cheeked-Conure named Fuzz. They are both very relaxed in my home with me and Buttercup sings when the dishwasher is on. Fuzz just squawks (he thinks he sounds beautiful, like Buttercup, but not really). I hope to keep learning more about these amazing animals!!!
