The Liberty Education team is so inspiring! And the medical services team works so hard! I know there are plenty more volunteers behind the scenes and we can all be grateful for the work they do on behalf of our wildlife. Just imagine the stories those folks from Lush told around their dinner tables.

Loved the rescue stories and the picture of Frodo. Thank you to Carol in ed who had the ingenuity to think of the burrow-like improvement to his little home. We all love our little Frodo! Ria

Love the entertaining rescues stories, some great images come to mind! And what a terrific shot of the northern harrier, handsome indeed. Hope he heals up well.

This isn't just something a raptor does, it's a "bird thing" that most avian species will do. It appears to be a comfortable way for birds to stand when they are resting and feel safe.

P.S. I'm curious why they stand occasionally with one leg folded up underneath them. Several of my photos show this raptor in this particular pose.

Thank you for this enlightening article! I am a nature lover and a photography nut. I had captured a few photos of what I thought was a Golden Eagle (having consulted my guide "Birds of Prey of the West"). The photo in the book looked most like the photos I had taken. However, thanks to your article, I now know I photographed a Red Tailed Hawk! What nailed it for me was the apt description of their call, which is what drove me outside to find and photograph this raptor. Enjoy all your articles! Thank you.
